Group Stage

  • Both groups are played as round-robin, i.e. every team plays against every other team.
  • EURO GROUP plays their matches in the EU server, as BO1. The maps are designated for each round by default (see Fixtures). If both teams agree, they can change any match’s map to koth_clearcut or dom_lilcanyon.
  • WORLD GROUP plays their matches in the local server of preference, as BO3, picking maps from the pool. See the Map and Server picking rules for details.
  • Teams can schedule and play the group matches in any order they want. This does not change the round-map pairs in the Euro group, which are randomized for fairness.
  • See also Group Stage tie-breaker rules.

Rules

For the 4v4 Cup, this ruleset supersedes the one on the RULES page.

General

  • Games are played on servers installed with the official config pack. The right config file should be executed for the game mode to be played. See Format and Match rules for the config file associated with each mode, and its win conditions.
Note that it is good practice to enter mp_tournament_restart after map change.
  • If the match is played on a server with CompTF2C-PuG (SM) plugin installed, match can be automatically started by all the players typing the “!ready” command in chat.
Otherwise (in case of no SM plugin, or if CompTF2C master plugin is installed), the match can be started by a server admin entering the mp_restartgame 5 command after alerting everyone in chat, if both teams stated their status as “ready” in chat.
  • Any act of harassment, racism, toxicity or derivatives both in-game and in the official Discord server is punishable.
  • ETF2L rules 2.2.3 and 2.2.4 apply for nicknames and avatars.
  • Failing to adhere any of the rules in this ruleset is punishable.
Punishments include warnings, match or round overturns, league (including PuG) bans and/or other consequences, depending on the severity of the offense.
The punishment of CompTF2C may be different than ETF2L’s. This rule supersedes any referred ETF2L rule in this ruleset.

Map and Server picking

  • Map pool consists of the following 7 maps.
    koth_product_final
    koth_bagel_rc11
    koth_ashville_final1
    koth_maple_ridge_rc2
    cp_warmfrost_rc1
    koth_clearcut_b17
    dom_lilcanyon*
[*Unofficial, 2-point version of dom_oilcanyon. Special thanks to MaartenS11 and the other creators of dom_oilcanyon for allowing this unofficial version edited by Jaws.]
  • Maps of BO3 (Best-Of-3) matches are determined with the Picks/Ban system described in ETF2L rule 8.3, using the map pool of the tournament.
For intercontinental matches played in multiple servers, Double Heavy Fist Fight may be performed instead of the standard Heavy Fist Fight, to determine the team that eliminates a map first.
  • Intercontinental BO3 matches are played in each team’s local server (Europe, North America or South America) during that team’s map of pick. The 3rd, decider map may be played in the local server of the team that wins the Double Heavy Fist Fight.
  • Heavy Fist Fight as per ETF2L rule 8.2 or Double Heavy Fist Fight is performed to settle arguments such as the priority of eliminating a map, the choice of in-game sides (BLU/RED) and/or 3rd map server location in intercontinental BO3 matches. All can be settled with a single (Standard or Double) Fist Fight, or with one Fist Fight for each argument.
Chekov’s Punch is also allowed to be used in Fists Fights. This rule supersedes ETF2L’s restriction to allow only stock Fists.
  • Double Heavy Fist Fight: Double Heavy Fist Fight is performed with 2 players from each team in both local servers (4 players in total), simultaneously, until one of the teams wins both Fist Fights.
  • Teams can cancel multiple server usage in an intercontinental BO3 match if they agree on a single server location for all maps.
Teams can reduce a BO3 match to BO1 if they agree on a single map.
Teams can reduce an intercontinental BO3 match to a BO1 if they agree on a single map as well as a single server location.
Teams can reduce a Double Heavy Fist Fight to a standard one if they agree on a single server location for the Heavy Fist Fight.
Teams can skip a (Standard or Double) Heavy Fist Fight if they agree on the 3rd map’s server location in an intercontinental BO3 match.

Format and Match rules

  • 4v4 is played with a class limit of 1, except that only one of Heavy or Medic can be present at the same time.
  • The right config file to be executed (exec [filename]) for each game mode in the 4v4 Cup, and its win conditions, are as listed below.
KOTH: cc_koth_9v9. Win limit 3 rounds.
DOM: cc_dom_9v9. Win limit 3 rounds.
3CP: cc_5cp_9v9. Win limit 5 rounds, time limit 30 minutes.
Golden Cap round (in case of a tie within normal time): cc_5cp_goldencap. Win limit 1, time limit 15 minutes.
2nd Golden Cap round (in case of a tie in the first Golden Cap round): cc_5cp_goldencap. First team to cap the mid point wins.
  • No whitelist is applicable. All items are allowed to be used.
  • Teams are allowed to change a player during a map, only once.
However, it is forbidden to use the player change to bypass respawn times.
Teams are allowed to change as many players as they would like between maps.
  • Players have to record POV demos in-game (record [filename]), which can later be requested by the admins for reviewing. Note that failing to submit a requested POV demo is also punishable.
  • Teams have to submit scoreboard and status (status in console) screen shots.
  • For pauses (pause and unpause), ETF2L rule 3.10.1 applies.
  • ETF2L rule 6 applies for cheats and scripts, including map bug abuses and interp limitations.
  • Only authorized spectators are allowed in the server.

Roster, Line-up, Mercs

  • Each team must have minimum 4, maximum 7 players in its roster by the time of the roster-lock deadline.
  • Each team may have at most one High-Rated Player (HRP) at any given time in a match.
  • A team may have rostered more than one HRP, as long as they are not used at the same time in a match.
  • HRPs can only play Pyro, Heavy, Engineer, Medic or Spy.
  • High-Rated Player (HRP): Players with 6v6 experience at ETF2L Div3, RGL Main, or higher (or an equivalent rating in the CompTF2C PuG system); or with 9v9 experience at ETF2L Prem or RGL Invite.
If the player’s team was eligible for play-offs after a season in one division below the above-mentioned ones (including ETF2L Mid, which promotes to High), the player is again considered to be HRP.
Example: Player’s team was eligible for play-offs after participating a season in 6v6 Div4/Mid/Intermediate, or 9v9 High/Advanced. Player is HRP.
(Note that ETF2L 6v6 Mid experience by default does not make a player HRP if the team was not eligible for play-offs.)
  • Teams can play with at most 2 mercs. Merc is a player who is not rostered with the team.
  • Teams have the right to one Default merc (cannot be refused by the opponent).
An HRP cannot classify as Default merc.
In case of doubt, admins should be contacted to confirm if a player is HRP or not.
Default merc can play any class.
Default merc must still be declared to the opponent team.
  • In case of a 2nd merc (only 2 rostered players in-game), or an HRP merc, the opponent team has the right to refuse it.
The opponent may limit the classes played by a non-default merc. This limitation may be more restricting than the HRP class restriction.
Note that failing to adhere to the class limitation agreed on a merc is also punishable.

Group Stage tie-breaker rules

Update: Tie-breakers in the form of full 2-teams (RED/BLU) matches, i.e. Euro tie-breakers, are on koth_clearcut (BO1) by default; Can be played with picks/ban and BO3 if both teams agree.
  • If two Euro teams finish the group with the same number of Wins, they play a decider match on koth_clearcut.
  • If three Euro teams finish the group with the same number of Wins, they play a round-robin, with all 3 matches on koth_clearcut.
    • If the teams tie again after the round-robin, they play a common 4teams match on koth_frigid, with team colors randomly chosen.
      • If two (losing) teams tie in the 4teams match, they perform a Heavy Fist Fight.
  • If the World teams tie by getting one Win each, they commonly play 6 single rounds of koth_frigid (mp_winlimit 1, i.e. 6 winnable rounds in total), 2 in each local server, with team colors randomly chosen once and for all.
    • If two teams tie after the 6 koth_frigid rounds, they perform a Double Heavy Fist Fight (see the Map and Server picking rules for its details).
    • If all three teams tie after the 6 koth_frigid rounds, they play 6 three-way Heavy Fist Fights in koth_frigid, 2 in each local server, with team colors randomly chosen once and for all. Last Heavy alive is the winner in these 6 winnable Fist Fights.
      • If two teams tie after the 6 three-way Heavy Fist Fights, they perform a Double Heavy Fist Fight.
      • If all three teams tie after the 6 three-way Heavy Fist Fights, they perform a single three-way Heavy Fist Fight in koth_frigid, in a randomly chosen server, with team colors randomly chosen. World teams are ranked in the group from the last one alive to the first one dying in this Fist Fight.
  • Three-way Heavy Fist Fight complies to ETF2L rule 8.2. Chekov’s Punch is also allowed to be used, which supersedes the restriction to stock Fists in ETF2L’s rule.
